Quick answer: OptiAI® lets you share specific areas, such as the family calendar, with other household members, so grandparents and caregivers see what you choose. For a grandparent who does not use an app, Opti care check-in calls can phone a mobile or landline (rolling out to US households). Full Access is free forever.

What helps grandparents most
- A calendar they can open when they are asked to do pickup.
- Only the areas you choose to share.
- A simple route in, which can be a phone call rather than an app.
Sharing, on your terms
Sharing in OptiAI is granular and decided by the family. You can share specific areas with household members and see the app for the current sharing options. Sensitive areas such as health and money use per-person permissions.
For a grandparent who does not use apps
Care check-ins let Opti phone someone you love, even on a landline and even without the app. You add their number, Opti confirms it with one short call, and on the first check-in it asks whether the calls are okay. If they say no, or say stop, Opti never calls them again and tells you. Opti never gives medical advice; if they mention feeling unwell it tells the family right away. Call alerts are rolling out to US households, and each connected call uses a few Opti Points. Read the full details on Opti call alerts.
Keeping connected in other ways
Family Letters let members write to each other, and a message to Opti in WhatsApp or Telegram can add something to the calendar. Under-13 members need a parent's OK for letters.
Starting small
Many families begin by sharing just the calendar so a grandparent can check pickup times, and add care check-ins later if they are welcome. Ask the person first. The goal is to make them feel included, not monitored, and each person can opt out of calls at any point by saying stop.
You can also keep some items private to yourself in a shared calendar, so sharing the schedule does not mean sharing everything.
Accessibility and comfort
Not every relative is comfortable with apps, and that is fine. A phone call, a text-sized view of the calendar or a family member reading out the plan can all work. Choose the lightest method that keeps them included, and revisit it if their needs change.
