Quick answer: TimeTree is a shared calendar; OptiAI is a family organizer that includes a shared calendar plus chores, lists, meals, budgeting and an AI assistant. Choose TimeTree if the calendar is the whole job, and OptiAI if you want the rest of the household week in the same place. OptiAI's Full Access tier is free forever.

Where TimeTree shines
A calendar-only app has less to learn. If your group mostly needs to see who is where and when, a focused calendar is quick to adopt and easy for every member to understand.
Where OptiAI differs
OptiAI keeps the shopping list, meal plan, chores and budget attached to the same week. Ask Opti can add an event from a typed message, a voice note or a photo of a school notice, from the app, WhatsApp or Telegram, and asks you to confirm with Undo available.
Per-person Data Sharing lets you choose who sees what, including for sensitive areas.
Who should pick which
See the standalone TimeTree alternative page for more. Features and prices change, so check their current pages before you decide.
- Pick TimeTree if you want only a shared calendar, or your wider circle already uses it.
- Pick OptiAI if you want chores, lists, meals and money alongside the calendar, or an assistant that does the typing.
How to run your own comparison
Pick a typical busy week and enter it in both apps. Count the taps it takes to add an event, see who is doing pickup on Wednesday, and add milk to a list. Ask whether every adult in the household opened it unprompted. The app people actually use beats the one with the longer feature list.
Privacy and sharing
In OptiAI, sharing is set per person through Data Sharing, and sensitive areas such as health and money have their own permissions. Connected calendars are read-only and revocable. Whichever app you choose, check who can see what before you invite the whole family, and read the privacy policy of each.
Switching later
Neither choice is permanent. OptiAI imports Google Calendar and Outlook calendars (read-only) and iPhone device calendars, so moving in does not mean retyping everything, and the Full Access tier lets you try it without a card.
